Railbox by Alexander Wise
Die Gestalten has a new font display this month by Paris-based designer Alexander Wise. RailBox is a robust stencil font. Designed so that every glyph is an actual usable stencil, the font has an almost industrial appearance. He would love to see it used as a real stencil on walls and vehicles. And size matters - the bigger the letter size, the better.

The end of LinkedIn
Relationships Matter, right.
Can a Network-platform like LinkedIn still keep it's credibility if I could connect with Barack Obama? Or is this platform tending to be crushed in the "click-n-connect like hell"-fair just like Facebook and MySpace.
The value of these platforms decreases awfully fast and tends to be an empty-box, just like Second Life, afterall. They'll all, sooner or later, become so called "interactive institutes to show off, impress and boost the fictive online identity of unexisting beings"

Concerning :hovercraft
I'm very fond of CSS Standards and the W3C, mainly because Vormplus always pushes his (and my) pixels to the limit of strictness, so while I was writing code for a recent project I noticed some hovering issues while trying to get everything Xhtml Strict...
I asked Peter Nederlof the following question;
... could be I'm far behind recent posts etc but I was validating my .css and they tell me following; "Property behavior doesn't exist : url("csshover.htc")"
So actually using this file to omitt IE6 bugs isn't really 'valid' ?
So if somebody out there cares along, the experts advice is:
You're right, the behavior property is not a valid css property. The css spec however does allow custom properties (which do not validate either for that matter), but those should be preceded by a dash and some abbreviation, like the way firefox uses -moz-someproperty. Sadly the IE team does not prefix their custom properties, so if you really want your css to validate, you should use a conditional comment block in your html to include a separate ie.css with all the proprietary stuff IE needs.
There's a page on msdn on conditional comments with more info: Microsoft

Fractie Sp.A-Spirit-Brussel
The Sp.A-Spirit-Brussel site is finally live and kicking. It is a project I was commisioned a few months ago but because of my departure to Proximity BBDO the finalisation of the project was seriously delayed. Some last modifications were made without my further involvement but eitherway it's still close to what I proposed.
XIO did one hell of a job to implement all the needs and desires to meet my design and concept, Thanks Pascal & the other guy that AS3.0 scripts like a devil (he's ex-TheseDays and running this new web-company in Ghent) !!

Virtual water
The Virtual Water project
Water is probably one of the most precious resources and vital for everyone’s everyday life. In spite of this obvious fact, people use large amounts of water: drinking, cooking and washing, but even more for producing things such as food, paper, cotton clothes, etc.
One of the most important research papers in this field is Chapagain, A.K. and Hoekstra, A.Y. (2004), »Water footprints of nations«, Value of Water Research Report Series No. 16, UNESCO-IHE, Delft, the Netherlands.
Designer Timm Kekeritz created a poster, visualizing parts of their research data, to make the issue of virtual water and the water footprint perceptible.
The water footprint of a person, company or nation is defined as the total volume of freshwater that is used to produce the commodities, goods and services consumed by the person, company or nation.
The idea of the water footprint is quite similar to the ecological footprint, but focussing on the use of water.

Hack the Surface of the Earth
In 2005, scientists discovered that a new skyscraper in Taiwan might be causing earthquakes. Called Taipei 101, it was temporarily the tallest building in the world, before towers like the Al Burj were anything but rumors. "At more than 500 metres," we read back then, "Taipei 101 in Taiwan is the world's tallest building. But now geologists fear that its size and weight may have transformed a stable area into one susceptible to earthquake activity."
The building is so heavy, exerting such "exceptional downward stress" on the earth beneath it, that it might have "reopened" an ancient tectonic fault. If true, this discovery "may have far-reaching implications for the construction of other buildings and man-made megastructures."
At the very least, we should ask: What would happen if we built more of them? Could we build fourteen of these things in San Francisco, in an act of long-term tectonic warfare, and destroy the whole city within a decade?
Conversely, could we build just the right number of these, at just the right spots, throughout the greater Los Angeles basin and thus nail the tectonic plates in place -- weighing southern California down and zipping the San Andreas Fault up tight? It'd be seismic acupuncture, a new form of therapy against continental drift. Perhaps one gigantic tower exactly placed in outer Tokyo could make the whole Pacific Rim freeze up. That is, till a rogue group of German terrorists arrives and wreaks havoc... Directed by John McTiernan. It's geology as a military campaign, enacted through architectural design.
