Good old viral: Danish mother looking for tourists.
Well, can't resist ... we all know the story by now but since I just heard that the rave of this viral has actually caused some people losing their jobs I found it worth posting. And I've finally found a version that's live again. Thank you Adland.tv
The video of a Danish woman begging for help to find the father of her baby is a marketing hoax concocted by the Danish government.
The video, which had received over 800,000 hits on YouTube in five days (14 sept 2009), features a young mother with a baby in her arms appealing for the father to come forward.
The woman claims the baby was the product of a drunken one-night stand.
Here goes the story:
If you’re a man who took a vacation to Copenhagen last year (early 2008), and if you’re also a man who met a women at the Custom House bar, and if that woman also took you back to her apartment shortly after you met, then you might want to sit up and pay attention to this.
Karen, 27, says that she had a one night stand 18 months ago that resulted in pregnancy. She’s now mom to baby August, and she’s turned to YouTube to help track down his dad, a vacationing foreigner whose name and home country she can’t remember.
Since the video was revealed as a hoax, YouTube has been deluged with angry comments from viewers, saying it demeans the plight of single mothers, and cheapens the reputation of Danish women.

Sweden's most viewed YouTube advertising clip of all time.
With nearly one million views on YouTube, 31 individual Facebook groups, 79,000 Google hits, attention from nearly all of the big Swedish media (and a group of foreign press, too) as well as a storm of thousands of comments on many different blogs and forums, one thing can't be denied: seldom has a Swedish advertising clip succeeded in getting this much buzz. Or stirred up so many different feelings. Some think it's horrible, while just as big a group is captivated by the ad and really appreciates it.
Happily, it appears that the campaign has really achieved results – sales have more than doubled, while in June alone, sales managed to triple. Thus Apoliva has risen right to the top of specific categories to become a new market leader.

Stop Motion Retro Tribute hits the fan, blows traffic and kills bandwidth
Swedish duo Rymdreglage combines the two in their video ‘8 Bit trip’. The video is a tribute to all your favorite games of the 80’s: Tetris, Mario, PacMan and they’re all compiled of Lego! The music in the video is by Daniel Larsson and the animation was done by Tomas Redigh, the two members of Rumdreglage, who spend 1,500 hours in creating this amazing video.
Tomas Redigh spend December 2008 to July 2009 in his studio moving Lego bricks around and taking pictures. It seems like all the effort the duo put in is already paying off. They placed the video online just 5 days ago and already got over 1.7 million views. Apparently, the duo wasn’t expecting this sudden abundance of attention. Their official website couldn’t handle the traffic and now reads: ‘Well after five years you people out there found us, at last, and start to visit this page. This site was obviously not made for that and reached the maximum limit of bit flow in one hour or something’.
Here's what there website says:
8-bit trip on iTunes
Hello, this Is Rymdreglages new fancy website. But why this extraordinary with text and everything? Well after five years you people out there found us, at last, and start to visit this page. This site was obviously not made for that and reached the maximum limit of bit flow in one hour or something.
But it wasn´t much to see anyway. If you want to listen to the rest of our 44 songs and not only 8-bit trip (well 2 of the 44 is on youtube) you just have to be a little patient. Hopefully they will be on Spotify and iTunes and other modern places on what we call ajnternejt in a few days.
So thank you very much for visit our youtube channel and keep on enjoying this site. If you stare at this text with crossed eyes for an hour or two you might be able to reach a higher level but I am not sure.

Who the fuck is Pat Fallon?
I don't quite agree with The Washington Post targeting, or attacking, creative agency Fallon for launching their new aggregating application, logo and website.

According to The Wash Fallon is an unknown agency, and I quote: "Why is an ad agency creating a Twitter app? Had you ever heard of Fallon before this? Didn't think so. Moving on. Folks have pointed out they did the BMW films and a few other campaigns. Feel free to ask some people on the street who they are, though, and I believe you'll be quite surprised." — What 'man on the street' knows the name of one or more ad agencies ... The answer being: none. If I get it right Fallon.co.uk is the same agency as Fallon.com and is very renown within the ad industry. Think about the most awarded viral of last year: Cadbury's Gorilla and the latest Glass and a Half Full Production: Cadbury's Eyebrows. The Skoda Fabia baking ad might ring a bell... Or maybe you still remember that bouncing balls Sony Bravia spot or that Bravia paint ad. Btw it's not just a Twitter app.

Fallon works for top clients globally and swear by a very innovative philosophy. Also, I don't think the agency was presumably named after the great comedian and talk-show host Johnny Carson aka Jimmy Fallon, Wash, consider this guy called Pat Fallon. He worked very hard for more than 15 years, to get his company on track. And he did. Pat founded Fallon in 1981 with the single-minded desire to stand for excellence—in the people hired, in the partnerships forged, in the work produced, and in the results achieved.
He spends his time today nurturing the company’s culture, managing and evolving the global vision across four continents, and working on clients' businesses from the frontlines. Pat's deep knowledge of branding issues, combined with a strong strategic approach to marketing problems of all kinds and his relentless need to achieve, make him particularly valuable to our clients’ CEOs.
In creating Fallon, Pat carefully considered every facet of achievement in order to build an organization where great people came, stayed, and did the best work of their careers and had fun in the process. That culture flourishes today. Pat makes sure that everyone at Fallon knows that marketplace accountability must always be the ultimate measure of success.
Pat has won virtually every recognition in the business during his career. But his most valued achievement is the trust he has earned from his clients. Pat still spends 80% of his time on client business. That is why to this day Fallon limits itself to a very small group of accounts, so that Pat and his senior executives can be intimately involved with each and every client.
I'm sorry Wash, you're full of shit. The TechCrunch referral on your website is a disgrace for the strength of all TC writers
Brave work that makes a difference
via the Fallon corporate website
Twenty seven years ago, five Minneapolis entrepreneurs met at a downtown diner and pooled their life savings to buy a single print advertisement that ran in two metro newspapers.
On that day Fallon opened its doors, without a single client, under the headline, “A new advertising agency for companies that would rather outsmart the competition than outspend them.”
Where others viewed our geography as a disadvantage, we found opportunity. Bob Dylan had already proven that if you’re determined to surprise the world, Minnesota is as good a place as any to raise your voice. Unlike the big ad shops on Madison Avenue and the left coast, we have the advantage of actually living in America where the people are; where brands not trends are built.
Fallon’s ambition to outsmart has been unwavering. Today outsmarting requires a more generous approach to marketing. Generous brands create something of value in the world: entertainment value, social value, and belief value. Generous brands are additive to peoples’ lives and to culture. They help build ideas in the world; they leave something behind. Modern branding is learning to give as much as you take.

Fallon Worldwide co-founders Pat Fallon, right, and Fred Senn will release a book this month about the lessons they’ve learned running Minneapolis’ best-known advertising agency.
via milwaukee.bizjournals.com/twincities/stories/2006/07/10/s...
In 2006, to mark the agency’s 25th anniversary, Pat and Co-Founder of Fallon Worldwide Fred Senn co-authored Juicing the Orange: How to Turn Creativity Into a Powerful Business Advantage (Harvard Business School Press). The book features the agency’s principles and it’s most famous cases and gives readers a behind-the-scenes look at how creativity can be leveraged for startling business results. With Pat’s personal passion for helping children, the agency has several pro bono clients, including Camp Heartland, Children’s Defense Fund, and Keep a Child Alive. YouTube Favorites - pick of the month
Sometime when you're all excited about new discoveries and stuff you rage on and on and on using auto-fill to complete all the login forms you have to tackle before getting in. Well that's exactly what happened to my few weeks or so. I was favoriting and saving movies under a wrong account thus not sharing it with my network, friends, connects and spouses. So, I made all the effort to manually migrate all the favorites to my personal YouTube account and couldn't resist sharing them with you. By the way does anyone know about an app that exports YouTube favorites?
This is a list with my latest picks on YouTube. It lists some viral hitmovies, but also some legendary vids, funny stuff and some valuable instructional movies.

The venue was an all white space and every fan who attended the gig was given a full white adidas Originals tracksuit. The duo, armed with paint guns, invited fans to interact creatively with paints and pens, covering the entire venue with an explosion of color and creating a music and art spectacle - a living and breathing mural.

Official Subway Dance Party 2k9 - Improv In Toronto
Around 450 people participated this year, making it atleast 20 times bigger than last years. If youre unfamiliar with the Subway Dance Party, its a very easy concept. Once on the subway, a couple people will begin dancing while listening to music on their mp3 players. At first they get weird looks, and a lot of people laughing at them. Slowly though, more people begin joining in on the dance. Over the next couple stops the dance party gains in size, until the whole subway is in motion, and yet this is all done silently!

About: The Death Of Web 2.0

On Feb. 14 Robin Wauters, a famous Belgian blogger and writer @techcrunch, wrote an article called: "The Death Of Web 2.0". Finishing that article he poses this: "I’ve never had anything against the phrase "Web 2.0", but I wouldn’t miss it a bit if it were never used again."
How about you? Would you miss the phrase Web 2.0?
Given this question, I replied in comment:
"I so totally agree with Robin. No, I wouldn't miss it if it were never used again. And yes, as a matter of fact I do kinda have something against the term. Let me explain why. In my opinion the web was always about whatever web 2.0 is about. I mean, the web was intended to be as it is now, or must I say as to what it is evolving to. Men wrote about the web long before it was even established and they foresaw this evolution. Web 2.0 was not a new thought or thing whenever the term was coined. It was just that in a certain point of time somebody coined a term that confirmed good progress in the evolution of technology. The web has been 2.0 from the beginning and gradually maturing. One could say that the web had aged significantly from the point the term was coined or started to be picked up by the majority of people that use the net. To me the term is not dead, it simply never existed. The net is and will always be the web, never a newer version but constantly evolving. A newer version is an upgrade of something, made by a team (of developers) and released at a certain date until it is outdated and replaced by the newer version."
Posts about the death of Web 2.0 go back as far as 2005 !!
So please guys, STOP USING that term, thanks.

Super Bowl Ad Showdown by MSNBC

McDonald's, Coke, Apple ... and the people’s vote for a flatulent horse.
The Super Bowl Ad Showdown was a nice way to check on the publics' view of the best ad "ever". Clicking the thumb shown above will redirect you to a nice app MSNBC launched last year.
The world is still about being talked about.
This year MSNBC has selected the 10 best Super Bowl ads of all time. The picks were heavily influenced by commenters on the MSNBC message boards, who discussed their favorite commercials and voted on the subject two years ago. MSNBC also considered the economic impact of the ads, which mostly consisted of disqualifying failed dot-com companies.
1. Coke — “Mean Joe Greene” (1979)
This advertisement became an economy in itself. Remakes were made in other countries with different athletes, including one in Argentina with soccer player Diego Maradona. There was even a 1981 movie based on the commercial called “The Steeler and the Pittsburgh Kid.”
2. Budweiser — “Respect” (2002)
Don’t be so cynical. It’s not always about the money.
3. Reebok — “Terry Tate Office Linebacker” (2003)
The nation’s jobless rate may be rising, but Terry Tate actor Lester Speight has plenty of work, including video game voiceovers and a guest spot on TV’s “Prison Break.” Rawson Marshall Thurber, who came up with the Reebok spot, now directs feature films.
4. Apple — “1984” (1984)
The Macintosh didn’t quite change the world as we know it — we’re typing on a PC, and bet you’re reading this on one — but Apple has managed to stick around and make a few bucks. While the original Macintosh is likely gone for good, Dolphin shorts have made a comeback.
5. Budweiser — “Frogs” (1995)
Anheuser-Busch didn’t just sell a lot of beer in the 1990s. For the next several years the company also sold the frogs on T-shirts, beer steins, key chains, neon pub lights and a motion sensor-activated frog lamp that repeated the catchphrase when anyone walks by. (It’s currently going for $500 on EBay.)
6. McDonald's — “The Showdown” (1993)
Larry Bird’s visible back hair in this ad didn’t seem to hurt sales. The 650-calorie sandwich continues to be a staple, and McDonald’s is posting solid numbers even in a rough economy.
7. E*Trade — “Money out the Wazoo” (2000)
E*Trade has had its ups and downs, but its mere survival puts it ahead of most of the dot-com companies that advertised in this era. “E.R.,” the television show that this ad appears to spoof, is currently in its 132nd season.
8. Budweiser — “Sleigh Ride” (2004)
A gassy horse and third-degree burns didn’t appear to make anyone switch to Coors. Anheuser-Busch will have seven commercial spots in this year’s Super Bowl. BUT there are many, many Americans willing to go to war in defense of a good fart joke.
9. Coke — “Parade Balloons” (2008)
“Family Guy” was mired in a writer’s strike, the “Underdog” movie was a box office disappointment and the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade got Rickrolled later that year. Was this commercial cursed?
10. Master Lock — “Shot Lock” (1974)
Master Lock enjoyed record growth in the 1970s and is still an industry leader in the 21st century. It doesn’t hurt that Discovery Channel’s “Mythbusters” recently shot a bullet through a Master Lock and got the same result.
The crisis is in our heads not our wallets.
Nothing makes the economy appear sound like scores of corporations lining up to spend $3 million for a 30-second advertisement that may or may not help their company. Even after a year filled with government bailouts, Bernie Madoff and $4-plus gas, there’s still plenty of money for Super Bowl commercials.
Dull impact lacks contact.
Too often, today’s Don Drapers fail to look at what has worked in the past — mostly simple spots that involve animals, potty humor, violence, celebrities, sentimentality, a stupid catchphrase or some combination of the above.
Okey... now after seeing most of these ads I'm totally convinced:
LONG LIVE SOCIAL MEDIA, and the internet ;)
Thank you MSNBC for thoroughly investingating and polling the public on their pick of monsterads
